So recently I purchased a 2007 Ford Focus with 90k miles on it (yes, this is my second post reguarding my vehicle in the past 5 minutes), and when it was purchased the antenna was snapped off from a car wash or something so the radio (stock stereo) was staticy. I purchased 2 seperate antenna bases and antennas, both rated 5 stars and good quality, and replaced the broken ones. The static definitely disappeared and I could actually hear the radio, but when I had certain stations on (specifically Chicago's BIG 95.5), there would always be a constant static and the radio would completely turn to static and slowly cut in and out. That's when I used the other base and antenna; didnt fix it. Then, I replaced the stereo with a good Kenwood one; didn't fix it. I was suggested to remove the siding in the car and unplag and replug the cord connecting the antenna to the stereo and look for corrosion and wrap it in electrical tape; all done. No corrosion. Tape wrapped. Same problem. As I was driving around doing errands, I noticed where I was (about 35 miles from where I live (which is a very open farm area)) the static stopped and I had no problems, and the closer I got to my residence, the worse the static got. Other vehicles that belong to the members of my family do not have this static problem and get 95.5 with no problems (no matter what way they are driving). I thought "well what if my antenna is picking up 2 stations broadcasting on 95.5?" but if that was the case, I would hear the other station and/or the other cars would have the same problem. Im so lost and iheartradio bluetooth streaming to my car wastes battery and data. Any suggestions? TY in advance.
