Not hot air from heaters '12 focus ecoboost

Hi guys, car is a 2012 1.0 ecoboost, it hasn't got climate control
Last few weeks ive noticed im only getting barely warm air coming from the vents after the cars been running for a while. Its been getting colder and colder every time I take the car out. This morning the car was completely frozen over and I was only getting freezing air out even after 20mins of driving.
Any ideas what It could be?
done some searching and it seems it could either be blocked, or maybe a dodgy thermostat?
any help is appreciated

If it's a 1.0 Ecoboost you might want to lift the bonnet, I suspect you'll find your coolant header tank empty. The heater works by the engine coolant passing through the matrix, and the Ecoboost is very prone to losing it's coolant via either the head gasket, front timing cover, water pump or degas hose. If the engine overheats altogether it's throw away and replace.

thanks for the replies guys, I checked the coolant header tank and it was in fact, basically empty, I swear it was at the correct levels a month ago.
I now have heat!

You need to get where the water has gone checked asap. Chances are it'll be the timing cover or degas hose, but I work for Ford and can tell you that if a 1.0 Ecoboost overheats, it's scrap within 20 seconds (not an exaggeration). I now have heat!

Yeah cheers, its booked in for an MOT and service next week at ford specialist anyway so hopefully they'll find out whats wrong. Ive had the car 3 years now. Last summer the turbo had to be replaced at a nice £1200 bill, it didn't have any power at all. Weeks after getting that replaced I had the same symptoms but turns out it was the brake vacuum pump that was shot. Its never ending with this car.Edition87 said:

Just be careful with a specialist and what work they carry out. Ford are currently covering the bill for Ecoboost engine failures, even for cars out of warranty, and offering goodwill on other coolant loss related repairs. They won't however contribute towards anything that's been repaired or stripped down outside of the dealer network. I dealt with an example recently where the degas hose had failed and wiped out the engine, it was referred to us at a dealer eventually, but as the independent garage had already stripped the engine and dropped it off in kit form, Ford wouldn't pay (it was out of warranty), yet had it come to us from the outset they'd have contributed 100%. All I'm saying is that if your garage do identify a coolant loss source, you may well be better off getting them to leave it alone and get booked in at your local dealer instead for the repair.

I recently noticed (few weeks ago) that the fan was overrunning (really noisily) on my focus ecoboost (13) after I had switched engine off.
Did it a few times, though not every time. I eventually thought to check the coolant tank and low and behold it was totally empty. Filled it up Monday, totally empty again by Friday.
After some assistance I discovered the degas pipe (not the thick bit the thin section going off it had a hole/fracture and water was bubbling out of it)
After reading this post I took it straight to a garage, (water was half gone again after I'd driven a mile!) Mechanic collected the replacement pipe from ford and fitted it within minutes.
I've checked coolant level every day since and its no longer dropping.
My real concern is what other damage could there have been to the engine? I don't know if it actually overheated (but someone says above its scrap if it does!), I can only presume it has if its been running with little/no water for up to a few weeks??? What should I be checking/looking for?
Also I had this exact same pipe replaced by ford farily recently, therefore surely it shoudn't have fractured, given it was very new? I'm wondering if I should actually take it to ford and make them give it a full check over given that their 'recalled' pipe broke and caused unknown damage? If so I'm also not quite sure how to approach it. Any advice would be appreciated.
I can;t afford to take it to get checked over never mind replace and engine or head gasket etc
