I think that is a good piece of design, at least the overall proportions are not totally staid. However, the front looks too similar to the new Focus (even if they did want the connection to be obvious), and the rear reminds me of the new Citroen C4, I think it's something to do with the lip but can't put my finger on it. Where are the pictures from?

I ran a google image search on 2006 FORD MONDEO, i don't think this model looks too different to the old MONDEO ST220

Its not going to look anything like that , that was a numpty express hash up from a year ago , hopefuly the new car is going to be a bit more exciting , if not 136bhp TDCi focus Ghia here i come

Are they really updating it next year? I thought it wasnt getting changed until 2007?

really don't know mate when they are updating it, but if it does look like that it would hardly be an update because that is basicly the design of the current ST220, apart from the back window

I would imagine that it's only a "refresh". Like the Mondeo and Sierra before it, it's rare they change any major panels, they just twiddle around with the plastic bits, paint the indicators a different colour, bump up the trim spec a notch, move some switches around etc.

Another facelift is due this year , and an all new car based on a streched focus platform is due in 2007

That's an artists rehash / impression of what the CURRENT Mondeo might have looked like... needless to say they got it wrong.

A new car can take 6 years from design to inception, and a scary amount of money, time and resources - by the time it's seen on the web or in AutoExpress it's pretty much 90% complete... been there done taht, got the T-shirt, read the book etc etc.

which will tide the current mondeo over until the new one arrives in 2007, is this right?

CD345 nothing like those pics.

It is very tasty - looks a bit Mazda 6 but better/classier (no 'Lexus' rear lights!!). It's got the solid look/feel that Audi do so well.

Completely different to current 'family face' models.

SAV concept shown at recent car shows gives an idea of where Ford design is going.

Interior is quite special as well.

Edited to say will launch 2006 - probably go on sale 2007.
