Fiesta mk7 1.6 tdci (HDi) 2009 - wireless fuel pump

Hi, I have a Ford Fiesta 1.6 tdci and it was working and everything fine. I left it for one day and next day it won’t start.
When the recovery guy came he checked it and run some tests on the obd2 he said 0 Psa fuel pressure.
We checked the fuses he said all of them good. Relay is clicking as well. We lifted the car a bit he went underneath it to hear the fuel pump but nothing. He said most probably it will be the fuel pump. Now the thing is I took it to a garage and they took the tank off . For my surprise there was only a fuel sender in the tank and not a pump/sender or pump. I mean there is no way a gauge with 2 hoses will pump fuel right? (Please see the picture below, that’s the part that has been replaced)
Anyway, we changed it , but nothing, then they said it could be some valve or common rail something? My point is I really hope is not the high pressure pump underneath the engine , because otherwise I think I will be commuting on my push bike and that’s it. The pump alone is about £500 and to install and this and that.... uff boy .
Anyone wants to tell me that it might not be the fuel pump and raise my hopes? ????
Take a look at this, is this diagram correct?
Fuel in tank>fuel sender>(god knows how the fuel gets to the bloody fuel filter> bloody fuel filter>high pressure pump> common rail> injectors > etc

The fuel gets drawn to the filter purely down to vacuum caused by the mechanical pump. I'm a Ford diagnostic tech and have yet to see a pump on one of these engines fail. 90% of the time a non start on the DV6 engine is caused by a blocked or incorrectly fitted fuel filter. Next suspect is a leaking injector usually.
See basically 2 months ago same thing happened, but at that time fuel pressure was low. I sprayed easy start in it and it started and it worked fine and since then it started from the very first time every single day in the last 2 months until before yesterday. Do you recommend I replace the fuel filter being the chepest option part in the fuelling system? Many thanks for your reply very helpfull. Thanks

Could it be that the filter was very clogged that’s why it had 0 fuel pressure?? Everyone has told me that the car is pretty new to have that gone in it? -(ok maybe not so new but that’s what another mechanic said). ThanksHaz94ch said:

It is possible yeah, they're very sensitive to fuel filters, and can block in less than 40,000 miles or 3 years use. Given the cost is relatively cheap, yeah it'd be definitely worth a try. I'm surprised the rail pressure is zero, but as I don't know what equipment was used to log it and am not in front of the car it's difficult for me to comment. Do you know when the fuel filter was last replaced? It's on a 3yr/37.5k interval.Rat_Fink_67 said:

The clue is in that you left it for a day without use. The problem will be a clogged filter or an air leak in the pipe between the filter and the fuel pump which causes a loss of vacuum and hence no fuel or perhaps a leaking injector. My bet is an air leak.
I told this to the mechanic. He said he doesn’t think so?? Anyway let’s see what will he say. Previous mechanic checked it and said something about a valve or common rail issue? He said 80% chance the fuel pump is fine. Hi, I have a 1.4 TDCi Ford Fiesta. I have the exact problem- air ingress in the fuel line. Have changed the fuel filter thrice and the problem remains unchanged. The car would start normally but there a significant lack of power. I took an extra step of fitting clear fuel tubes from the fuel sender to the fuel filter and from the fuel filter to the high pressure pump and found air bubbles from the filter to the high pressure pump line. So, guessed air is leaking from the filter. But there were no leaks in the filter( pressure checked it to 25 psi). So, now my question is where would those air bubbles come from if not the filter( tank to the filter line has no bubbles). Thanks.
Hi, I also have a 2010 1.4tdci fiesta van, so far I have replaced the glow plugs, injector seals, diesel filter and a new fuel line from the filter to the injectors......still the same problem with starting 😔
Starts first time outside my house but as soon as I drive to work and leave it for 8 hours, it takes around 5 minutes of turning the engine to actually start. When it does start, it sounds like it hinting for fuel and running on 3 cylinders for a few seconds!!!
My last avenue is possibly the injectors????
