2004 Fiesta. Error code P0107 and U0001

I just picked up a very cheap , low mileage 2004 Fiesta and it has an intermittent ignition fault which stops it from turning over.
It seems that the car doesn't accept that is in neutral, or go into neutral (it is a semi auto) and it doesn't turn over. The engine management code is 16 , which refers to the key not talking to the immobiliser or something like that..
After a few attempts, or waiting a minute, Or both, it fired up like nothing was wrong.
It then sits idling away quite happily at about 400rpm but then occasionally rises briefly to about 700 and that cycle seems to continue. Should I just adjust the idle up a bit as 400 seems a little low to me.
I have a little Autel diagnostic code reader which gives me the two codes in the heading.
The car is not worth taking to a garage to charge me £40 an hour plus parts and will go back to the auction house if it is not an easy fix!
