Ford Fiesta S1600 fan constantly on.

I have just bought a 60 plate Ford Fiesta S1600 (basically a special zetec s). I have noticed that the radiator fan is always on. Even when I first start the car it comes on and won't stop no matter how long I drive the car for. I'm getting a bit concerned. Is this a common problem ? If so what could it be ?

Does it stop if you turn the A/C off?

I think if the fan is set to windscreen the automatic air con comes so the fan would be on all the time.

It will be the a/c rad fan - my girlfriends ecoboost is on all the time
