Alternator, power steering or both

Hi all

I have a 2005 Ford Focus 2.0 Duratec HE. I drove to work and all was fine. When i started it up to go for lunch, i could hear a whirring/whining noise from the engine. Afetr turning it off, i couldn't start it, and it made a clicking moise, which i remember from before as when the battery was flat. I push started it to get it back, then afetr starting it again, the power steering went stiff and i couldnt steer.

Would that be caused by the alternator? Could something be lose?

Any adice would be greatly appreciated
