Smax 2.5T Engine blown

I have a blown engine on my 2006 2.5t S-Max. Does anyone know if I can drop a focus ST or Volvo 2.5 engine in without modification. I've been told they are the same engine but don't want to shell out for a recon engine if it won't fit.

There are a hell of a lot of variants of the 2.5 modular. I think the Focus and S-max have different codes and that there are some Ford specific changes compared with the Volvo applications.

So whilst most motors will most likely physically fit, I wouldn't consider it 'drop in' unless you can find on good authority that someone has done it successfully.
