1.8 tdci tuning?

Hello all, my question is has anyone tuned a 1.8 tdci engine? The kkda one found in a mk2 focus and mk3 modeo. I dont mean the usually exhaust, filter and remap, I mean properly tuned one to get as much power out of one as possible. I am aware that there limitations with pistons, fuel pumps and injectors but wondered if anyone had found parts that can be swopped in or made to fit.
