Hi,

I just bought a Ford Fiesta 1.2 2006 but upon driving it home I realized I wanted to lower the seat down as it was too high for me. However, there doesn’t seem to be a lever. Is there a way to install one?

I was driving a Corsa 1.2 before (passed my test 6 months ago) but the engine blew up on me so wasn’t thinking straight when I got this fiesta because I needed a car for work straight away. Short of selling it on and buying another Corsa is there anything I can do because it way too high for me. I also find the seat uncomfortable compared to the Corsa because I have wide shoulders, but this wasn't apparent until the hour long drive home from the person I bought it off.

There's no way that I know of to lower the seats.

You could look at fitting seats from other cars but I have no knowledge of that.

You can buy the leather seats from the Silver Edition or whatever it was called and fit those- they are adjustable.

If not, just sell the car and buy something that you will be comfortable in!

The Ghia version has adjustable base height too. Approx £25 for a seat from a scrappy

I'd suggest the only "easy" mechanical solution is to buy a seat on ebay that has height adjustment. From experience, messing around with runners or removing stuffing from the seat is not a good solution.

First though, just drive it as it is for a month. You might find you get used to it the way it is.

You learn something new every day. I didn't think any of the Fiesta Mk6 seats were height adjustable!

Apologies for being incorrect above! smile

thanks for all the prompt replies.

excuse my ignorance but is it possible to put my corsa seat in this car?

i will drive it for a month or two and see if i can get used to it. the corsa was the first car i drove because i only just passed my test so i guess i am just used to that. if i really cant swap the seat or get on with the height ill just sell it on and find something more suitable. at least i have car to get me around for the time being.

Its just because your not used to it yet, you get that from switching cars. I have the same model (albeit a 1.4) but the height seems normal to me. Give it a few week and you will be used to it.

As said above I would give it a while to get used to it, when I bought my current Mondeo it took me a while to work out what I wanted to do with my left foot when not needing to change gear and I just couldn't seem to adjust the steering wheel into a position that was most comfortable on the arms. After a week or so I noticed that I had stopped noticing these things (if that makes sense!).
