pinto engine numbers

Any one know how to read engine numbers on a 2.0 sohc. starts with the letter G 24xxx/ very faint stamped letters and numbers

May not help you but IIRC the engine number was just the last few digits if the chassis number !

There are lots of numbers on a pinto where are they?
engine type will be cast into the block and say 2.0 (early block) or 205 (later block) ect under the Ex manifold.
engine code is on a milled flat boss on the block behind the alt
engine number is on top of one of the B/H bolt holes (the 2nd up from the sump)
anything else is a casting code.

number is stamped on flat bit behind alternator/ and 20 is cast/ so is 70HM6015BA. no number on flange above sump This engine is not original to this car, Thanks
