Fiesta 1.25 service query help

Hi.
Looking at buying a Fiesta 1.25 Zetec for my son. 2013 MY.
Looked at a few now, question is, some of them have missed a service, not every year.
Is this normal for this car, or should i be steering clear of these, as i have been doing.
I am a great believer that cars/ pick ups etc should, without fail be serviced every year, even going as far as changing oil and filter myself in between services.
Any help would be good on this please.

How many miles has it done between services?
The 1.25 zetec engine is pretty reliable. Had an old one many years ago and no real issues. IIRC one year I didn't get round to a proper service so it ended up going 2 years / ~15k miles between services with no adverse affects. Car is now with a family member who almost certainly skimps on servicing, and it's still going (now 17 years old).
That said, if someone is skipping the odd service you have to ask what else they're neglecting. You could (perhaps) forgive missing a service if it doesn't do many miles, but consistent neglect or cheap tyres/parts would be a no-no. Check the MOT history online as that might flag up a history of poor maintenance.
And ultimately, it's a Fiesta - hundreds to choose from so if you're not happy there's plenty of others to choose from
