Focus 1.0 ecoboost 125
Discussion
Hi
One of these is on the cards for my next car.
I have heard a few people say the engines are fragile with a lot of failures out there.
How true is this? And is there a recall or fix that needs to be done to prevent it?
I know it probably been covered before.
Edit to add it will be a 2013/2014 model.

Check to see if the degas hose recall has been done. However, at the age you're looking at it should already come with the upgraded part.
There are a few cases of losing coolant around the waterpump area (I think it's the gasket between waterpump and housing weeping). These engines run hot so any loss of coolant can have serious repercussions. Keep a VERY close eye on your coolant level and investigate any fluid loss immediately.
Engines themselves are pretty robust (and pretty darn good to boot!) and remember Ford has shifted millions of the things in different sizes and outputs. if they were all failing, Ford would be bust by now.
