Mondeo me 4.5 seat change ideas??
Discussion
Hi Folks,
I currently have a mk4.5 Mondeo that I really don't want to change but I find the drivers seat very uncomfortable. I'm looking at putting seats in from another car and was looking for advice as to what is likely to go in as a direct fit. If not does anyone have any experience of fitting other seats and how easy or difficult it is?
I was thinking of maybe st220 seats, fiesta st180 seats at Volvo v60/xc60 seats.
Any ideas welcome
Thanks in advance

I had a Passat with very uncomfortable seats and wanted to do the same. At the end I didn't, because:
1) There were other cars from the same manufacturer with identical rail fitment, but the seats were barely better, or sometimes even worse.
2) Even different versions of the same model will have different electronics. If you use seats from a different model or even manufacturer, be prepared for significant re-wiring.
3) You can't get around it by fitting a manual seat, because you'll still need to deal with airbag/pretensioner electrics - you don't want to mess this up and lose some fingers!
4) What will you do about the seatbelt? Buckles/latches from different models won't work together.
5) Side airbags are designed to work with the door panel. A seat designed for a different model might not deploy the airbag correctly.
6) Don't forget to update your insurance with details of your modification.
In the end, I replaced the Passat with a Mk4 Mondeo which has wonderfully comfortable seats
What don't you like about them? Are you sure they're not broken somehow? Have you tried Tit-X seats?
My only complaint is that you can't tilt the front of the seat independently, but very few cars offer that unfortunately.

had this with my mk4 zetec,
changed out to titanium half leather and it was night and day. picked up a set up for pennies as well off eBay.
for what its worth theres nothing out there thats a direct replacement as i particularly fancied a set of focus st recaros at one point and spent a silly amount of time stripping the interior out the wifes focus at the time to compare seat rails
