Morning Everyone, hope all good, well at least more good than me! ESP System Fault on dash, had codes read, needs new ABS module & pump. Ford quoting just shy of £2k!!!! Almost tempted to just scrap the car.

Been told that there are some companies that will take broken unit and recon? Appreciate car will be out of action for some time whilst they do this but if it's less than the horrific cost of new then not bothered.

Anyone recommend a place that can do the work? Anyone recommend a place I can dump the car and set fire to it? Anyone recommend a good lager that will help with the shock?

I'm Bristol based if that helps.

Cheers everyone.

Simon.

It'd be worth getting in touch with BBA Reman, they offer ABS units on an exchange basis and I've always experienced great service.

Are you sure that it needs both parts? Ford sell the cheaper part for around £250

Trouble is, fault code doesn't show which part is faulty and I have no way of testing them.

I also need this to be a quick fix as mot on 2nd December.

Cheers for all advice chaps.

Simon.

Same here, had many a rebuilt ABS pump for Mk4/5 golfs from them and the odd suzuki swift, both have known issues all been fixed with a better than OE rebuilt unit.

There's definitely some way of doing it, I'm guessing some more detailed diagnostics such as IDS? ForScan might be worth trying, that might point it out.

What is the fault code?

If it's an ST225 I had the same failure. I cannot remember off the top of my head that code but I had the module replaced by ford at around £370 Inc fitting.

It won't cost you £2k if it's the same fault, it used to when they only sold them both as a pair. But I believe the BOSCH module is renowned for it across many different makes and suddenly became available separate to the pump!

Focusstoc has a great knowledge base it's worth checking there as well.
