Courtesy/puddle door lights

Hi guys newbie here. I've got a set of door lights to go in my escort mk3 Ghia and they won't work I'm connecting them up to the pin and interior light but won't come on. I know the lights work as they do if you go straight to the battery. There are 2 wires coming from the lights, the system is a non dimmer system.
Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong plz thanks
