Hi guys,

Long-time lurker, but first post as a member! I was hoping for some advice, I have recently got my hands on a 2013 Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0L, but have had a few issues with it.

I noticed after a few weeks that when the car has been driven a short distance, and then comes to a stop you can hear a rattle sound coming from the engine bay. The dealership has had the car back on two separate occasions, and also completed an oil change to try and help but it is still present.

Reading on several other forums, it appears that the noise is normal for the 3 cyl EcoBoost engine, but was hoping for some guidance/reassurance?

I've attached a link to a video of the noise. Cheers!

My 1.0 140 sounded pretty much like that after 1.5years of thrashing it around. It also groaned in reverse.

Good engine but not the most refined.

Yeah, it's something that I initially thought was going to be trouble but reading around it appears to be the norm!

Just don't want to be taking it to a different garage for them to conclude it's 'normal'.

The high pressure injection systems on direct injection petrol engines do tend to make them sound like a sewing machine at idle. It's normal.
