Hi all, basically I have a 2005 fiesta with 1, 3 button key. I have just scrapped my 2001 Transit which also had a 3 button key, is it possible to get a new key cut for the Fiesta & use the 3 button remote from the Transit, can it be reprogrammed to the Fiesta or does the chip in the fob need to be replaced also.

If so anyone know how it's done.

Cheers in advance

You can get a key cut and some firms will clone the chip in your current key. You can pair the remote now using your current key. Quick Google found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Ford-Key-Keyfob-Programm...

Hi thanks for the reply, just to confirm that yes I could take out the fob from the key that works & put the fob from the transit & I could pair it straight away, can't seem to open that link but it's to eBay so is that for a fob or key blank?.

Not sure if Timpsons cut these blanks but if not I'll just down to Fords and get a key cut, just trying work out if it's an easy thing to pair up the transit fob.

Thanks

Those are instructions for pairing the transit remote. Plenty of places will clone the chip and cut a key.

Hi still confused what's the difference between cloning the chip & pairing?

One is the remote, the other is a chip :-)

The chip is the little glass tube that turns off the immobiliser.

You can open the car with the remote, once paired.

You can cut a key, which will fit the door and ignition. This will not actually start the car without a matching chip.

Ah ok, understand now, have done a quick search on Google & found a video of turn the ignition on & off 4 times etc a I was hoping it was just a case of doing that to get transit fob & chip to work.

Cheers

That's the bit that sorts the remote. Just allows you to open and close the car.

Adding a new key (chip) can be an expensive trip to a main dealer. This is why people clone the existing one instead.
