Focus A/C Only Works With D REciculate On

This appears odd. Just rebuilt daughters 2001 1.6 Focus aircon, new condenser , drier and regas. . Everything appears to work as advertised but in fact the aircon will only work, e.g. the clutch will only engage, when recirculate is on. I am quite sure it used to work with recirculate function on or off..

Anyone know this? Fan is working fine.

BTW The compressor is not rapidly cycling then dropping out altogether because pressure is low, it just keeps going nice and cold - as long as the recirculation light is on.

Clutch disengages immediately recirculation is turned off, even though A/C light is on.

Any ideas about this bizarre fault?

Please ignore this. I got my buttons mixed up with my other car. It works fine! Should have gone to specsavers!
