Ford Focus 2500cc
Discussion
Hi , got a Ford Focus 2500cc Volvo engined car in today with a nasty squeal when it's hot , after removing the oil filler cap it stopped and it seems that the engine is drawing its air through the engine breather system , is this a known problem for the throttle body to stay closed although it appears to operate and is not sticking and there are no other blockages ?
I'm guessing it's an ST and it's this noise:

You need to replace the oil filter housing and the breather pipe attached to it. Don't drive the car until it's replaced as you risk blowing the camshaft oil seals and then contaminating the belts with oil.

I really like that this still happens on Pistonheads.
Amongst all the bickering and one up manship a simple post asking for help and it is answered with no making the op seem stupid for not knowing.
The Land Rover forums used to be like that till they died a death and moved to facebook where any request for advice is met by people giving sometimes dangerous advice and others saying dont even think about opening a toolbox unless you have an engineering degree and 10+ years as a mechanic!

Yes, the well known oil diaphragm issue. Well, to many.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZH1xei0-b0

Not a dig at you OP in any way. I'd heard about it, but wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for/should be listening for and drove far enough to get a chunky bill for the subsequent camshaft issues.
The good news is that the engine is quite hardy and mine is still going well enough some time afterwards.
Just don't drive any distance before getting sorted!
