Hi guys,

Just bought a fiesta st 1.6 and wondering how to check the oil. Can't find anything online and the manual doesn't have an ecoboost specific instruction.

Checked the oil today an hour after use and it seems very over full. The car had just been serviced by the main dealer before I bought it.

Any advice would be great!

It should be easy enough to work out where the minimum and maximum area is on the dipstick, although why Ford have different marking systems depending on model/engine is beyond me.
The normal level will either be within the hatched area or between 2 notches on the dipstick.
I used to have a Focus fitted with the 182PS 1.6 Ecoboost and there was a specific drawing of the dipstick in the owners manual, but like you say there may not be one for your Fiesta, although it will be the same as what was in my Focus.
I realise I probably don't need to tell you this, but when checking the correct oil level make sure the engine has been turned off for at least 5 minutes and car is sitting on level ground.
Ideally check it in the morning after car has been sitting all night and the level should be right on the upper limit of the dipstick.

Normal. They overfill slightly to allow for oil usage until the 12.5 k service, as most people don't bother checking the oil at all , it's cheap insurance for them.

Thanks for the help guys! Yeah was just confused about the dipstick I have. It seems different to other examples I've seen online.

Also it doesn't tell me if I should do it hot or cold. It can make a big difference.

You can do either, just make sure the engine has not been running for at least 5 minutes to give the oil a chance to drain into the sump.
If you check when stone cold the level should be on the maximum fill mark, so if its under at all I would add just enough to bring it up to this level.
