ST220 prices on the rise?
Discussion
I was looking again at ST220s last night and people are starting to ask quite decent money for low mileage ST220s, £6995 for example, for a 38,000 mile example. Nearest one to me is £3695 for a 90,000 miler on a 04 plate.
Do people think that ST220 prices are starting to pulled along a bit by the general interest in Fast Fords? The Focus ST is the same.. Cars are still being advertised at £6-£7K for a reasonable mileage 06 reg model with 5 doors. That's decent residuals for what is now a 10 year old motor.....
Having said that, five speed Mondeo STs made in 2002/03 are firmly rooted in bargain basement territory, £2500 seems to pick you up a below average mile 02 plate...
So I am thinking, with the family Mazda 6 finally like to be sold, is it a good time to take the plunge.....or a bit pointless to swap one 11 year family size car for an even older sportier family size car and pay more money for it!
I think it's just a case of supply and demand as usual; the numbers of tidy, well looked after examples with decent mileage on them are depleting so the prices are creeping up slightly for the more desirable ones. There'll always be cheap ones around, but most are a bit of a gamble. There's no RS badge, so I don't think any ST220 will ever get in to silly money, but as with all fast Fords, once the numbers begin to dwindle the prices will rise.
I've put too manty scrapes and miles on mine for it to be worth too much unfortuantely
The prices in general are all over the place, with some pretty hopeful pricing in a lot of cases I think. there are cars the same year as mine with more miles than mine when I bnought it, up for more than I paid 3 years ago. there are some cheaper too.
