2001 ford galaxy tdi 1.9 alternator belt replacement
Discussion
Hi,
I did try the search function but couldn't find anything relevant.
How do I fit the alternator belt?
All the diagrams I can find show that there should be a PAS pulley on the alternator loop. There is no PAS pulley on the alternator loop on my engine.
Diagram A is the only info I can find.
The belt which I ordered using the VIN, is ribbed both sides. The belt that came off is ribbed one side only.
Diagram B shows my layout. The only way I can see to put the belt on is to remove the v belt between pulleys 1,2 and 3.
Basically, the tensioner idler pulley disintegrated and threw the belt. I had to cut the belt off to stop it getting caught up in something else, as the belt around pulleys 1, 2 and 3 was in the way, (mainly from throwing the other aux belt (pulleys 1, 2 and 3) or getting jammed up between the pulley wheels) just so I could drive home.
So, is it correct I have to remove the v belt around 1, 2 and 3?
If so, do I just stretch if off and back on?
As I fear it may be, will the belt be too big (as the belt which arrived is ribbed both sides and seems to be for arrangement as in pic A)
If so, why would the belt be different/arrangement be different if the belt was ordered from the vin?
Any advice, pics etc., Would be most appreciated as I need the car asap.
Cheers in advance
