2009 Focus ST head unit
Discussion
Hi all,
Before Christmas I had my ST serviced and MOT'd at a Ford dealer. The next day the car was hit while parked and had a damaged door, wing, sill, wheel, bumper and it knocked the most part of the drivers wing mirror off leaving cables exposed. By the time the tow truck picked it up from my house the battery was dead. After it has been repaired, a new battery has been put in and the head unit has now failed to work. Totally dead......
The repair company claims it is a common fault, and that it will be c£1k for a replacement Ford Sony unit. The other drivers insurance company are refusing to pay out for this, as they say it isn't related to the minor accident.
Does anyone know how easy, and feasible it is to replace it with a non Ford head unit, and if the control stalk still works with another unit than the Ford?
Other option is to cut my losses and trade in for a new ST, but I don't particularly want to part with c£12k plus my car for a nearly new model at the moment...!

Fitting a stereo to that era of focus is easy. ford even sell the fascia adaptors etc. You can buy a harness to keep the steering wheel controls Before Christmas I had my ST serviced and MOT'd at a Ford dealer.
