Mk3 Mondeo 2.0 Petrol - Help please
Discussion
Hi all,
I have a 51 plate 2001 Mondeo mk3, 2.0 Duratec petrol. Car has 89000 miles on it.
I got in the car this morning and noticed what to me seemed like a 'burning electrical smell.'
I started the car and more of the smell came through the vents. I checked under the bonnet and dash bur couldn't see anything obvious.
I took the car for a drive, and it seemed like the clutch bite was high, and there was a rough rattling noise under acceleration at low revs. This noise goes away with clutch depressed. It seemed down on power too, but that could be me imagining it.
I'm drawn to DMF/clutch but that may be me jumping straight to the worst case.
It also has had a 'problem' for a while in that it feels like the power fluctuates, as if driving into a gusty headwind. But it doesn't feel like a misfire.
Any suggestions on where to start?
Thank you
EDIT - also found a puddle of oil when removing middle 2 spark plug leads. I pulled them off once in sequence while running, checking for a dead plug/lead, no oil. While on ramps I decided to pull the plugs out (engine off) and the oil was pooled around the plugs.
