Hi All,

I am new on here an looking for some help with my 56 plate ford focus, I have had the car just over 4 months and it has now developed a fault when its starting after being driven.

What is happening is after I have driven the car and come to start it again the car turns over but will not rev and loads (and i mean loads) of black smoke comes from the exhaust as if the car is on fire, I have taken it to the garage and had a new MAF fitted but the problem is still there.

This has stump me as when it was code read it said it was the MAF, Also I have had green flag out and they have said it could be an injector or erg that has gone but im not wanting to spend out loads of cash if its something I can fix myself.

Hope all this makes sense and thanks in advance.

Joe

new update for you, the garage has driven the car today and it starts fine from cold but again once it has been driven for about 10 mins the car will not start again, the garage now has no idea what is going wrong with the car as they are no codes coming up when its being code read. very strange

I had the same problem on my slk. Turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor..started perfectly when cold but once got warm would stop and not start until cooled down. This went after 10 years and was due to constant hot / cold cycling of the plastic part leading to eventual failure. It could be that..replacement sensor was £100 and a ten minute fix
