Help.
I've just taken over driving from my wife on a drive south and the needle on the rev counter is reading 1600rpm high.
She hasn't noticed it before and its her car. I know it was fine last weekend.

With the engine off its stuck at 1600. At speed its reading high by this amount. Engine sounds normal. Nothing abnormal through the pedals.

Is this a common thing and how do I fix it? Would a battery disconnect reset it?

Any ideas would be good as now my wife thinks the car will explode and we are 150 miles from home.

I remember on the Mk1 Focus if you held the trip reset button in as you switched on the ignition, it would do a dial sweep. If this functionality exists on the C-Max it may reset the dials.

Or it may explode.

turns out it was a stuck needle.

engine on, blip throttle, engine off and it slowly stepped down to zero.

driving around the rest of the weekend and it's fine.
