Knocking noise from rear, wheel is stuck

Hi, had a knocking noise from the rear of my cmax for a while, quite a metallic sounding noise which my best guess was a loose heat shield knocking against something. Thought I'd remove the wheel earlier and see what i can see, but I can't even get the wheel off, its stuck on. Any ideas? Could the two be related?

Forgot to say, noise stops when braking hence thought I'd have a look behind the wheel
