2.5 Turbo question.
Discussion
...does this engine have any known issues? I read a buyers guide in EVO some years ago for the Focus ST and cant remember what the issue was that you had to look out for. Is it cylinder linings?
..rather fancy one in a Mondeo actually. Mondeo 2.5Ts offer a superb amount of car with low mileage these days....about 2 grand cheaper than the equivalent mileage Focus ST, which considering I need a car big enough for me, the wife and two growing kids makes them tempting.

The Volvo lump is pretty reliable in standard trim. Also the Mondeo version is slightly less stressed than the Focus derivative.
Cylinder liners are only really an issue with cars that have raised boost levels (more accurately boost spikes in after market mapping)
I helped Evo do the article on the Focus ST, there are a few minor issue such as a badly designed oil filter diaphragm that can fail, but otherwise it is a solid engine.
