I have just replaced my wiper blades with the 'official' ford parts and see that they have a wear indicator on them.

Does anyone know how this works, as the cynic in me considers this as just a way of selling more blades. Of course I could be wrong.

your reffering to the little stick on dot applied to the frame of the wiper.

It will turn yellow in time, this is a visual sign to suggest that you replace the blade.

I've found that in sunlight, it turns yellow after around 6 weeks, so take No notice of it. I really don't know why it's still in production!

It's recommended that you replace the blades after 12months.

Thanks for that. I do replace blades every 12 months or so, (or when they start leaving lines like after I started them up before the heated windscreen was fully defrosted).
