After a bit of a disaster with a Mini Cooper S we have played safe and bought a nearly new Fiesta Ecoboost with a mighty 100 bhp, basically the 100 and 125 are the same engine and can be remapped to the same amount of power, which seems to be quoted between 140 and 160 bhp creating a warm hatch from a boggo spec Fiesta.

So, anyone had it done ? pick the car up Monday and will run it a few days until we have located somewhere suitable and get it mapped, as standard its ok but a little more power wouldnt go amiss.

Should be fairly respectable with 150 ish bhp, just looking for suggestions of where to go, budget is £300 - £400

Obvious answer, but Mountune?

135 (warranty friendly) and 165 (non-warranty friendly) options available?

ETA; if you do get it done, be it Mountune or other, update the thread on how you find it. A 1.0t could be on the radar for the OH's next car.

I'm intrigued to see how long that little engine would last pushing that out.
Aren't the smaller Eco boosts suffering a little for engine failure?

Unless they're used for racing, they don't spend a lot of time pushing out anything like that.

I don't believe the 100 and 125bhp models are the same.

Mountune's own site suggests that their own 135 upgrade can be applied to the 125bhp model only:

Had some experience mapping these engines, albeit not for road use. Quite Impressive little things, can certainly handle more power. Just how far you want to push it is up to you though. We found the timing chain tensioners were giving up before anything else, saw one at around 180bhp and 210lb/ft with standard internals but that was on the ragged edge!

Anyway, I would go down the approved Mountune route personally just for piece of mind.

OK it's a wee bit more than a remap and it's £2400 but they do lower power remaps too. I'm not sure if the work can be done on the 100BHP version, I'd have thought that technically there can't be too much that's different. They seem to cover most Fords so I'd give them a call.

Not sure if there are any differences, some of the remappers treat them as the same others offer higher outputs on the 125 and 140 versions.

I have the 140 version of the same engine.

My understanding is that the Turbos MIGHT be a little different between the 100 and the 125. YMMV and it is worth getting in touch with Mountune as they will have the defacto answer and incidentally they don't seem to mention the 100hp variant in any of their tuning literature. Pumaspeed & Mountune are the major mentions when it comes to these engines Pumaspeed treat the 100 & 125 as the same it seems. I'd ask the question to both those companies back to back and see what you find. They're the major mentions in the forums for this car.

However If it's nearly new presumably you have a warranty? If you don't want to void it then go Mountune. If you don't mind voiding it then you may as well have bought used?

They were but it was one specific design issue, a hard plastic water pipe was fracturing. It was swapped for a rubber one in a design update and it solved the problem.

If you have an early 1.0 Ecoboost, get the update pronto.

Mountune are affiliated with Ford, Ford wont want people spending less on the 100 bhp engine then upgrading it to be more powerful than their own offerings is my thinking.

The car is second hand, a year old with 11k miles, picked it up tonight and took it for a spin and I have to say, its way better than I expected, it manages to feel pretty quick for a 100 bhp car, a decent level of shove, not sure it needs a remap, it is perfectly adequate for its intended use. Might wait a while until the novelty wears off, then get it done.

I am not sure what the differences are between the 100 and 125 version but everyone other than Mountune routinely maps them to 140 or more bhp, I would guess that the engines are exactly the same internally and if there is a difference it is the turbo, I would love to see what that difference is.

Most Superminis used to be miserable, soul sapping experiences but I really quite like this.

The engine failures were due to over-heating I believe, due to loss of coolant.

IIRC part of the coolant hoses was plastic and it split, I think its been sorted now, thread on it somewhere!

Have ordered the bluefin unit to remap the car which should arrive tomorrow and will report back, apparently will give 140 bump and 180 lb/ft of torque in a car weighing 1065 kilos or thereabouts, sounds on a par in terms of power to weight similar to a mk2 Golf gti sixteen valve so should be decently quick, I reckon abou 8.5 to sixty so an old school hot hatch kind of performance.

I know practically nothing about these, can everything handle the extra power?
