S1600 help

Hi there.

I'm new on this but I need some help.

I'm from Scotland and have found a 2011 mk7 s1600 (134) fiesta at a local dealer and I love it. It has quite high mileage at 71,000 and I was wondering if that would deter anyone?

The car itself is immaculate and doesn't look like 70,000 miles. It is a one owner car and has a full ford service history.

I want to know if anyone on here knows the car and could possibly share any information on it. If not then can you all please give me advice on things to look out for and a verdict on if I should go for it or not?

The registration is: ST11kwm
It was first registered in Ford Evans Halshaw Kirkcaldy.

Any help at all would
Be much appreciated ASAP.

Thanks,
Dylan Williams.

The engines are very strong, if you have that full history then dont hesitate if the condition is spot on.

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah the service history is what really appeals to me if I'm honest, and that fact that it has only had one owner.

Have you had any experience with these? What's your thoughts? Especially with one with higher mileage?

Thanks.

Find attached photos of the car that I am looking to buy and give your initial thoughts?

We have a 2012 Zetec S 1.6 in white, its been mapped and filtered to the same 134PS power as the S1600. As an all round car its great, what it lacks is real guts low down, you do have to spin it up, but the chassis is brilliant, and still comfortable at the same time, we have had ours since Feb last year, not missed a beat as you would expect.

Don't they have a 5 speed gearbox and drum rear brakes, I think I'd rather have a late 150 BHP 2.0 Fiesta ST.

It doesnt need disc brakes on the back, its a light car.

Yes its a 5 speed box, ratios are a bit long but you get used to it and the shift is nice too. The Mk7 is so much more refined, better handing, better built, better looking and more modern, it's not in the same league tbh apart from outright performance. Saying that, even for a 2 litre the Mk6 ST isn't that quick, the S1600 is only half a second slower to 60 and is a much smoother, lighter unit.

Odd then that the Fiesta ST150 had rear discs and so does the new Fiesta ST. We had an 05 ST and changed it for a brand new ST last year, obviously the new car is much better but the ride was better on the old car and there was nothing in the build quality. I'd expect the old ST to whup an S1600 and it's not that hard to bump the power up to 170-180 bhp.

Well I also have a mk 7.5 fiesta st, stage 3 tuned to 280bhp as well as a zetec s, the zetec s stops fine, it doesn't have the same feel to the pedal and has more travel , that's the biggest difference, obviously the front brakes on the ST are bigger and overall stopping power is pretty good, but for the power the ZS has, it's fine. It's not worth considering an older car on the basis it has discs brakes on the rear.

The ride on the ZS is much better than the ST also, I would say it's perfect, ST can be firm at times but I've got used to it.

If I wanted a pissing contest I'd point you towards my profile. I rate the 2.0 ST above a Zetec S.

You don't have a Zetec S, I do. Not a pissing contest, simply saying in comparison it doesn't need rear disc brakes, its not fast enough or heavy enough to justify it, now the ST does as standard require something with a bit more bite, its the only Mk7 Fiesta that ever had rear discs fitted.

The kerbweight of a 1.6 Zetec S/S1600 is 1045kg, the ST is 1163kg. Both quite light by modern standards.
