Is it true that end of run production Mk1 Escort 1300Es, Cortina 1600Es, and Mk3 Cortina 2000Es were produced in black.

Noticed a black 76 2000E on an R-plate for sale last week.

Black was always an extra cost option on Ford cars in the 70s. Why extra cost?

No it was just a SVO option, any black Ford from the 70's will of had an SVO sticker on the front panel, why extra? any non production colour would be extra cost so i guess black wasn't a popular colour ? never mind it shows body imperfections more and dirt and paint imperfections ?
