Hi, are there any other UK/European Focus ST sites I should know about other than focusstoc.com? I begrudge paying to discuss technical matters on the aforementioned site and despite checking that a thread I started hadn't been discussed previously it was swiftly closed by a power-tripping mod as "already discussed". This site doesn't seem to get the traffic and most threads go unanswered. Thanks. smile

As you chose not to get access to the technical areas on there, your search results will have excluded those areas. The answer to your question WILL be there as will a ton of other useful information.

It is £6 for the best resource there is for your car.

I can understand the whole "free internet" argument, but some sites are just worth the money. I've been a member on there for 8 years

Perhaps so, but it's yet another site with power-tripping mods and I avoid those like the plague. Still listening out for alternative ST forums. The American sites are very active but a lot of stuff isn't relevant for the European market.

I wasted money on STOC . Place is full of over sensitive mods. Seems from other users, I wasn't the only one who thought that too.........

yes Which site would you recommend?

I found the 'technical' forums via google cache and archive.org and there doesn't seem to be many posts there to justify paying to access it.

I am not connected to the Focus STOC (other than being a member) but wondered if the problem 'mod' was the same for both of you?

I don't use those forums these days. My ST is where I want it to be, so I don't need them. From a forum perspective, I found I was being hounded by one of the mods, for no real reasoning and decided not to bother again. Rather put my money in a bin and set fire to it.
Its the only place I have ever had emails regarding what they considered 'issues'.

It is funny you should mention the moderation. I registered and asked a query on there as I was thinking about purchasing a ST estate* but just interested in other's opinions about space for car seats - and it instantly disappeared to some obscure technical forum that I had no access to with no comment, and I had to ask for it to be restored so I could see responses. I wasn't going to pay for the use of the forum before committing to purchase, but was a potential future paying member so it seemed bizarre to act in that manner. What are you supposed to discuss in the main forum?

* - have now: deposit paid on Saturday woo!

So I am interested to hear about alternatives too!

Yes, the mods all seem to be in cahoots with each other and the owner to send as much content as possible into the "technical" forum so they can extract money from all members.

As for what you're supposed to discuss in the main forum, it would appear that endless threads on the facelift delivery delays are fair game as are endless threads on poor paint finish. Discussion about any other topic is swiftly removed.

I've recently bought a secondhand blue ST-3 estate myself with 'style pack' and privacy glass, no other options. I like it a lot. spin Which one have you bought?

I don't like to name names, especially as you're a prolific member there yourself and probably friendly with the mods. They all seem to be as bad as each other though for moving everything to the technical forum.

I won't pay for it either. I just ask questions in here, usually someone's able to help.

Op you could try FFOC. Its a general focus forum but they are a friendly bunch and I think they have an ST sub forum.

I was on STOC a while and although far from the worst, not the most friendly either.

And that works? Damn every time I try, the PH massive either replies MX5, or something to do with sausages and redbull laugh

Is the ST 'sub forum' hidden from view? I did stumble upon that site already but from the home page it appeared to be only for cooking spec models so didn't investigate further. It already annoys me beyond reason that I have to create an account just to view any content irked .

^ Nope, FFOC is a waste of time too. They do have ST sub forums for each model but they can only be viewed by "club members", the price for which is £10/year. There isn't a great deal of posts in those forums either so probably not even worth the money. I do of course appreciate that forums cost money to host but I don't think bribing your members to pay for it is the right way to go about building your membership/site.

I can assure you that I most definitely NOT friendly with any of the mods, I find myself being frequently annoyed by the over-moderation of the Focus ST Owners club forum.

It is a 2 year old blue ST-2 estate with privacy, city pack etc, but not style pack. The ST-3 leather looks nicer than the half leather with slightly tacky blue inserts of the ST-2, but short on time to travel there were not that many about within reasonable distance to me, and ultimately I'm not overly fussed about that (or xenons or DRLs)! I also prefer the silver wheels to the grey.

Nice! A fellow blue estate owner spin. The leather seats are very nice but if you are anything other than stick thin they are a tight squeeze to get your back into as the upright side bolsters are rather narrow. I'm glad I got an ST-3 as the xenon lights are absolutely fantastic at night on the unlit roads round here. Mine's a 2013 62-plate with 27k.
