Best buyers resources for an ST220?
Discussion
Hi all,
Just wondering what "recommended reading" I should be doing before looking at a few ST220s later this week. Does anyone have any advice?
I know that the dual mass flywheels can be problematic, that the clutch is expensive (presumably because the DMF would be replaced at the same time). I've also heard that they can rust and the rear suspension bushes can clonk a bit.
Is there anything else that I should be aware of? Any key zones to check?
Thanks!
Alan

long thread, but worth a read - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=1&a...
Check everything electrical works - and I mean everything. Boot release, central locking, the lot.
Check for water ingress - passenger footwell, rear doors and boot.
Rear suspension bushes do go, although mine never did. Found it quite sensitive to tyre pressure and geometry.
Focus ST220 Calipers are a nice brake upgrade. Aftermarket exhaust liberates a bit of noise and makes throttle response a bit sharper.
Watch for adverts saying it has cruise, heated seats and loads of options - these were standard bits of kit.

Talkford has list of common problems for ST220 in V6 section.
Alloys are problematic - friend has ST TDCi and has just bought new set of alloys as original ST wheels are notorious for cracking.
Help this helps.
