Independent Cosworth specialist?
Discussion
My brother has a Scorpio Ultima (that’s a Granada estate with a 2.9 V6 Cossie lump in it for the uninitiated )
Not being that much of a petrolhead he’s been taking it to a Ford main dealer since he owned it . Now it looks like the head gasket maybe on its way out. The dealer has basically said removing the head would be “opening a can of worms” since it’s a Cosworth engine. Which is basically code speak for “we wouldn’t have a clue how to put it back together again” . They have suggested changing the engine at a cost of about 4K plus 12 hours labour at 90 quid an hour or scrapping the car
So to the point: Does anyone know a good independent Cosworth specialist no too far from the High Wycombe / South Bucks area that would be able to look at it?
TBH I’d never heard of it until my brother bought one so I guess it’s quite a rare car in the Cosworth world?

It's not a very common lump, as all the Sierras and Escorts were fitted with 2.0l turbo units as I'm sure you're aware. In fact I think it only went into the Scorpio. It is a modded version of the 'Koln' design - as featured in TVR S-series AFAIK - I've not a clue as to how much it has been altered though! Power Engineering might be worth a shot. They have a good rep. for Cosworth, Subaru and Mitsubishi maintainence/upgrades. Failing that, perhaps posting on the S-series forum might throw light on a specialist that would be able to assist?
Best of luck!

The Scorpio 24V is one of the lesser-known of the Cosworth engines - and it has nothing in common with the Sierra Cosworth.
It is a 2896cc quadcam V6 engine with 24 hydraulic valves, variable inlet system and runs on the EECV engine module, engine code BOB, and puts out 207bhp.
The Granada engine was BOA, put out 194bhp and is run by the older EECIV.
If you need to know anything about the Scorpio look at www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ - membership of the forums is free.
If you need a garage with knowledge about the Cosworth V6 there is a list of recommended garages on www.fordscorpio.co.uk/dealers.htm - Inchape Ford is very strongly recommended.
You can find the workshop manual for the Scorpio engines in the Repairs section.
