Discussion
I have a kit car with brakes from a 88 Sierra 2litre.
The brake pedal is hard with very little travel (I have checked that the pistons are not stuck) there is also little feel to the brakes.
It is possible to lock the wheels with enough pressure but as there is so little feel I would like to improve them.
I was thinking that if I fitted calipers with larger diameter pistons that there would be more brake pressure at the expence of more pedal travel, and hopefully more feel.
1 - Is this a reasonable course of action ?
2 - If so does anyone know what calipers would fit ?
Any advice/info would be appreciated

Did you use the complete brake set up?
I'm still a little rusty on these kit cars builds
pedal feel is usually more to do with the actuation and level of servo assistance.
I'd be inclined to think that larger piston contact area will do little to help the situation, after all the single piston caliper fitted to the sierra wasn't that small to start with.

I think the lack of a servo probably has much to do with the problem, the set up was designed for use with a servo and while the brakes now have to stop considerably less weight the effectiveness is not what it should be.
I am reluctant to add a servo from weight, complexity and space considerations.
Thanks for the reply.
