Phew.. what a name.

Anyway, has anyone had any experience with these? They seem like great all-rounders and a lot of car for your money, and the Powershift gearbox seems to get a lot of praise.

I would prefer the 240bhp version - is there a way of telling for sure when this was introduced over the 200bhp version?

I'm looking at these too smile

The 240 was launched in 2011 it seems, where's the 200 was in 2010.

They all seem to be 'Sports' with the 19" wheels, bodykit etc. Also likely to have the facelifted dash....

I'm not sure about the Mondeo, but the S-Max was built in X trim with the 203bhp ecoboost engine, as I spotted a few when searching for our 240bhp S-Max back in 2012. I think they were all 2010 models, which is why I ended up buying a 2011 one.

Facelift Mondeo Titanium X Sport (with DRL's in the bumper) = 240PS.

Pre-facelift cars, and facelift cars that are not a TXS = 203PS.

Nice cars - my Dad has had one for a while not had any bother with it. They can be quite pricey to run though - 19" wheels on the TXS means a set of premium tyres is £800, and they need an expensive gearbox oil and filter change every 3 years at £250-£300 at a dealer.

Thanks! So any 2.0T TitX Sport made on or after that date will have 240bhp?

I believe so, a quick check on ETIS with the reg will confirm.

The facelift model are all 240bhp, the pre-facelift model are all 203bhp. Most of the 203s are 10 or 60 reg but I have seen some on 11 or even 61s which presumably where sat in dealers until they sold. I haven't seen a 240 on anything earlier than an 11 reg. The differences externally are quite noticeable:

How do these compare to the likes of the Skoda Octavia vrs

The Mondeo has more passenger space, much more comfortable for rear passengers, better ride, higher spec, no expensive cam belt changes as the Mondeo is chain driven. The VAG 2.0T uses oil, the Ford engine doesn't in my experience.

The Ford is not available as a manual, the Powershift box is a dual clutch box similar to DSG.

Both are good cars - my Dad had the Octavia vRS before the Mondeo. Both have been flawlessly reliable. The Skoda is more overtly sporty, the Mondeo is a better long distance car but still a good steer when pressing on.

I ended up buying one. Had it almost 3 years now and I'm still very happy with it. Not had any problems with it aside from a slightly weeping coolant hose which I replaced for about £15.

Excellent all-round car IMHO.

I have a 2016 2.0 ecoboost (my research is based off this model year).
The diesels come with the powershift duel clutch.
The petrols come with a 6 speed torque converter auto.

Alot of wrong information on the subject, even from the motoring press.

I had a 2012 240PS Ecoboost Estate for 12 months, it was superb as a comfy cruiser, loads of space and very well equipped with a smooth, fast gearbox. I found the car itself though dull with not enough power, you could feel it was all a bit heavy imo. I remapped it to 265bhp, but it still never felt that quick. It returned around 30mpg as a daily drive, 40mpg on a run but insurance was quite expensive I found. It's also worth bearing in mind the gearbox MUST have a oil change regular, every 30-40k, this is absolutely critical and costs around £400 a time. I had mine as a family car but I found it that dull that I flogged it and the wifes car, bought her a 7 seater and got myself a 5 pot Focus ST which is now running 275bhp and keeps me entertained.

So initial thoughts are as follows after 300miles.

It's extremely quiet (but then I am coming from an MX-5) so anything feels quiet after that.
The gearbox is good (mine says powershift on the log book so dual clutch). I have found myself waiting for the gears to select after I slow for a roundabout then need to accelarate for a gap in traffic - i am learning to work around this though as the car is my first auto.
Fuel consumption is around 30mpg for my 25 miles a day commute through local roads and the occasional NSL roads.
It is an effortless motorway cruiser.
The car is huge inside, again this might be as a result of the change from my previous car. for instance, i had to take some equipment from my office to a customer site that would've been a van job previously, whereas now i can take the Mondeo.
Mine has heated and cooled seats - i haven't tried the heated seats as yet, but the cooled seats are a godsend.
The A/C is good
The car can torque steer a bit when coming out of a 90 degree junction under semi heavy accelaration. This might be down to the Nexen tyres that the dealer fitted.
I'll report further when i have had the car for a while.
