Can anyone advise where to get new or refurbed driveshafts for Focus ST 2008? Or would anyone go with uprated ones? Looking at Collins S5, at around £800.

Hi there, can't point you directly but there is plenty on here that have been down this road, just do a search.
My ST2 started leaking oil from the offside outer CV boot at the weekend so I'm on a trail to get some replacement parts. Just 54K on a 2007, they don't last long do they?

Mines clicking at the slightest hint of a right turn on the wheel now, figured I may as well change all of it, may even change both to allow even wear.

If it's what I think it is, it's the well-known 'driveshaft clunk'?

Should've been fixed under a warranty TSB at an early service. They clunk with loaded/unloaded and it's an easy fix - every Ford dealer should know about it.

I doubt they would touch a 6 year old car with 60k on the clock.

Wouldn't hurt to try. Mine was done at 40k in an 06 in 2008.

Also it's a cheap fix anyway so might as well just have it done. Unless your issue is something else.

I'm looking at refurbed ones for about £165 each plus fitting, or £795 for the Collins ones, I haven't heard any feedback on the Collins ones yet though so may just stick to OEM.

Honestly, I would ring your local Ford dealer and ask them to check if the driveshaft TSB has been done on your car. If not, ask if they'll do it under warranty. It could solve your problem and save you a wedge of cash.

If it IS the well-known 'driveshaft clunk' it's a simple fix. No replacement of parts is required.

When the cars turning right, especially on full lock, there is an incessant clicking from n/s wheel. Only just occurred in the last couple months. Getting worse.

Well rule out the cheapest option first.

Or spend a few hundred quid, doesn't matter to me. You have my advice.

Try graham here http://www.carpartsexpress.co.uk/search.asp?strKey... he does a refurb of yours replacements or uprated ones including slightly longer ones which you need if he car has been lowered.

The shafts on the St's are a weak point, even more so if the car is tuned/ lowered or both your description sounds like the cv has had it.
The TSB consists of stripping part of the offside shaft down & putting loctite on it to stop it clicking when taking up drive.

I know this is a very old thread but I have the clunk sound people are on about, what was the fix exactly? Thank you

If it's the 'clunk' when pulling away in 1st and reverse, the outer driveshaft splines need glueing. Here's the original TSB:

Whatever you do, do not fit cheap driveshafts. The MK2 ST is known for munching driveshafts. Genuine Ford seem to be the pick of the lot over on focusstoc
