Mondeo Durashift auto - what is it?

What sort of auto box is the Durashift fitted to a Mondeo 2.3l petrol? Is it a traditional torque converter or is it a robotised manual?

It is a conventional torque converter auto. The Durashift label is just Ford's own branding, the transmission itself is an Aisin unit and fitted to a lot of other vehicles from GM, BMW and Fiat.
