Rs cosworth Insurance
Discussion
just need some advice if possible.
I am 22 years of age and am on the look out to buy a Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. I currently have two years no claims and three points,sp30, as of November I will be 23 years of age and will have three years driving experience, if things go ok I will have three years no claims in Feb2005. Have never made a claim or anything as of yet, no need too! Anyway I currently drive a little g reg fiesta which was £300 for the year, which also is paid off. Thing is I dont know if to swap the insurance over to the Cosworth for the remainder of the insurance year(feb2005)or insure it as a second car with someone. I do want to drive the cosworth but possibly only weekends at the most. I just wondered if anyone knew of any good insurers who may help, would I be able to insure it as a classic car maybe? Can anyone please suggest what they would do or have done in a similar situation if pos.....thanks for your time!

My family's Escort Cosworth is with Adrian Flux at the moment, and they seem pretty good for fast Fords - having said that at £900 it's no bargain. The classic route might be the cheapest as it will be a second car, presumably on a low mileage policy (under 5k p.a.) If it's to be your only car then I can recommend www.confused.com as a good way to sort through all the major insurers in one quick swoop. I can also recommend popping over to www.passionford.com and posting there as well - a wealth of information.
Have you found the car already or still looking? 3-door, Saph, 2wd or 4wd?

Hehe, the cossies are group 20, and not that they are that nickable anymore, they were and have a terrible reputation for being impossible to insure to under 25 year old males
I've got clean lisence and 3 years no claims and am 24, and had no chance of a quote under 1800 quid.
Best to get something like an XR4x4 with the 24v engine transplant for half the money and cheaper insurance. Go as fast too
Mind, not as tuneable, but will you EVER get insured on a tuned Sierra Cosworth under 25 for normal money?
