I know of a Sierra XR8 (The one built for South African rallying homolgation). It's compeletely original, dry stored, and has 2400 recorded miles. The current owner would probably part with it and has quoted £15k as a starter. Anyone have any idea what it's worth? I can't find any examples of these having changed hands

I certainly wouldn't have thought it was worth anywhere near that. Still, I guess as it's a real rarity over here it'll be worth whatever someone's prepared to pay for it.

You can get a very decent RS500 for that kind of cash. Dunno how much an XR8 would be. Not much over here, I guess, as it has no history/heritage to keep the price up.

I suspected this to be the case...I know they're rare but other than the engine it's a bog standard 5 door Sierra. Strange beast...

Thanks for the opinions

A friend was selling one for about 6k i think. Now it wasn't excellent but theres no way i'd be looking at 15k!

Plus as mentioned the Cossies are faster.

they are very over priced IMO, i personaly wouldn't pay more that a couple of grand for one.. as someones already mentioned no heritage in this country and without that its just a 5 door sierra with a v8

plus when you wanted to sell it you'd never find a buyer!

Somewhat bizarrely, the price of Sierra XR4x4s has increased over the last year to 18 months. Looking at Autotrader, my elderly wee beastie has gone from around £900 (sob) to something in the region of £1500-1800. I can only put it down to kit car builders and Cosworth crashers wanting them for the limited slip diffs, transfer boxes etc.

Found this one in the South African Auto trader, seems a lot at 55000 rand, but it turns out to be £4500 which seems pretty realistic to me.

Hi guys
Just found your site re:XR8s. The real XR8 lives down in Aus,it's one of the Falcon family and has a 5.0 V8.
Some of the earlier ones,i.e 90s models go for reasonable money. They all sound like Bullitt Mustangs.
OK it wouldn't go round corners like the Sierra of the same name but that sound is outrageous.
The current model, the Falcon BA is a bit more expensive of course and while still having that V8 growl, isn't quite as rumbly as the older ones.It also has a 5.4 lt motor in '260' or 'Boss 290'forms.
To import from Aus isn't as expensive as you might think.A guy imported a Falcon Cobra XC (like the Mad Max car)for £850 plus taxes and duty. Try these sites; CarPoint.com.au carsales.com.au
Ford Australia, FPV.com.au or subscribe to Unique Cars
or Aussie Muscle Car.
