Slower than usual Transit Connect TDDI
Discussion
I'm sorry too start my PistonHeads gassing with such a boring thread...
I am currently running a 2006 Transit Connect 1.8 TDDI as my work van which feels exceptionally slow. I never expected the thing to set any new records for speed with its 75 ps engine but it struggles to climb to slightest of hills with next to no weight in the back. Even on flat land it struggles to get going below 1800-2000rpm which is where I would expect the torque to be working.
I have heard various whispers about the EGR valve getting blocked on these engines, could this be the problem?
Any help on the situation would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

egr valves fked. Had A few Transits through work and each one has ended up with this fault. Van feels hesitant under full power and lack of grunt? defo sounds like the egr.
Yeah that sounds very similar to mine at the moment... Absolutely no power low down the rev range!! I've heard a few stories about blanking the EGR valve off, if I do that is there anything else needed as a replacement or anything else needed to be removed to make that that work?
Any advice appreciated...
Yaaay Thread resurrection.
I just got myself a (2nd) 2005 1.8 TDDI Transit connect and it has this exact issue.
Its like driving a milk float with less torque.
So people are stating it could be a buggered EGR, by this do they mean its not operating, blocked, or its stuck open/closed?
Any other things to look at? Im going to replace all the vacuum lines too as they are starting to get a bit hard and could be leaking a bit.
