Tank your car up , reset the trip and when you next fill up convert the litres to gallons then divide your milage by the number of gallons , that will give you your mpg .

Nice to see my Diesel mondeo is returning 34mpg

I never run to empty. I get pannicy when it's at the 1/4 mark and tend to just fill up when I have the money.

Current model Fiestas have a capacity of 45 litres or 11.9 gallons - would imagine that's about the same as the previous shape.

Umm, 45 litres is 9.9 Gallons, 11.9 gallons is 54 litres.
Don't know the tank of a Fiesta though!

the usable capacity of the fiesta tank is actually 37Lts.

the tanks have a designed air space for safety and filling should be stoped after the 2nd click off from the fuel pump.

the tank is a positive pressure system, hence the need for a bit of free

argh...ok Im just confusing myself trying to work all this out!

If anyone could please tell me roughly how much a 600mile journey would cost (mostly motorway/A roads) at approx 79.5p litre of petrol it would be very much appreciated!!!

Thats more or less an impossible question to answer, without knowing how many miles your car does to a gallon.

assuming your car is running well, you should be looking at anything from 300 to 350 miles from a tank (to the top of the red section on the gauge)

but if you budget for 80lts of fuel at your stated price, you'll have loads left at the end of the trip

so roughly £64...thats between two people so £32 is definately cheeper than a £70 train ticket!

And the government wants people to use the trains more! Bog Off!!
