Hi Guys can you please help with a 1995,1.4 inj escort,The car will start no problems,And run,Untill,The water temp just starts to lift on the gauge..(About 8 mins running),Then,The engine starts to hunt,Till it stalls,Then will not restart till cold again.
I have tried a second hand-Airflow meter, water temp sensor, lambda sensor, cleaned the idle control valve on the side of the inlet manifold,Checked plug gaps, cleaned ALL sensor connections, renewed the mushroom topped thingy to the left of the inlet manifold...But the car still hunts till it stops...Can you guys please help........Kev.

I had a very similar thing with a hairline crack in a distributor, looked fine at first, got a bit of warmth under the bonnet and expanded just enough to fail...was on a much older car though, you probably won't have an old school dizzy on a 95 car???

found on another forum:
ignition coil was bad (sunlight/heat causes expansion in coil which irritates crack or corrosion, increases resistance, can't spark),
