Afternoon Chums

The drivers side electric window in my missus` 2005/54 5 door Ford Focus has stopped working irked
I`ve checked all 3 fuses and they`re all fine, passenger side works fine from it`s own switch and from the drivers side switch. It`s just the drivers side that has stopped, I`m assuming it must be something relatively straightforward as it was working fine yesterday but not today.
The bizarre thing is I`ve just fitted new speakers this morning and had the passenger side door card off and disconnected the passenger side electric window switch, re-fitted it and this works fine. Before starting the drivers side I went to put the window down and it didn`t work!!
I have taken it all apart and put it all back together, but nothing works.
Help banghead

Cheers
Dave

Panic over, fixed it thumbup
If anyone else has the same problem, it would appear it`s really common and easy to fix.
Open the drivers door and whilst joggling the window switch, smack the bottom left corner of the door card with the palm of your hand and hey presto it works biggrin

I bought my Focus MP3 (3 door) in 2003 from new and just out of warranty the drivers electric window ceased functioning. I stripped the the door panel off and tried all that has been suggested here but no luck. I went to Ford who wanted £175 just to look at it so I took it to an independent garage who were baffled. I ran around for almost 6 months with drivers window non operable before the passenger side also went kaput. Another 6 months went by without any operable windows (I tested regularly just in case I got lucky).
Then one day, I parked up the car and heard a high pitched whistle coming from under the dash with the ignition off (switch ignition on an the sound stopped). It seemed to come from the dash centre near the windscreen. I banged on the area but the noise was still there.
I decided to leave it and go shopping .... when I came back, the noise had stopped but both windows now worked. The car is now almost 13 years old and have had no trouble with the windows in the interim and the whistling noise has never returned. However, yesterday, the drivers side window stopped working again and I expect the passenger side to come out in sympathy some time soon.
I'd love to know what the whistling component was / is and if it was anything to do with the window fault or just a coincidence. Typical, just when I have the car up for sale ... not that it's worth much, I might get more breaking it for parts.
