G40 Road Car Price Announced
Discussion
Noticed on the new Ginetta website the car is going to be £36k. A reflection of what it costs to 'do things properly' on a small scale these days, but I can't help thinking this is going to really struggle at that price point for the spec. I really hope not. I have been watching this one closely, as I intended to buy one, but unfortunately I can get a he'll of a lot of nearly new car from Stuttgart for that money. Not comparing like for like I know, but in reality when spending that kind of money that is what it is up against.

1.8 4pot Ford. 150bhp - hence my comparison to the boggo Elise (circa 160bhp)
Yes just checked Ginetta cars page. You can buy a lot of slightly used sports car for £36k!Being Ginetta, the road car has a 2.0 duratec and a full MSA approved roll cage and side impact protection and weighs 790 kg...... The price is still tba but we hope to be under that listed.
It is taking too long, but we have the first 10 prototypes in production, the G55 orders have been so strong we can't get on it until after the race season starts.
Sorry for the delays, but we just want to get it right.

Thanks for posting. Getting it right is best. 2.0 Duratec is good news.
I would be interested to drive one, see if it will complement the Tuscan

The site is incorrect, they have just launched a new site to coincide with the start of the new race seasonnand put up old data regarding the G40 road car.
I have driven the new G40 (White car) and it has a duratc. We are on with low volume European type approval and the car has been specifically designed for this.
I love driving this car

Im afraid this is my problem.
I love the notion of the G40. To my mind a car doesnt need to weigh more than 8-900kgs. It doesnt need to be big and bloaty, it needs to be the size of the G40 and look like it. Motor up front, 2 seats, boot behind, 4 wheels, job done.
Then why the hell just give it 150ponies?
LNT - pls for the love of satisfying us poor long suffering English sportscar owning ex TVR types, can you give us the above and say 250-300ponies? Id be happy with the weight going upto 900KGs, sacrifice something of its "trackness" and its the perfect sports GT. Knock on £40k for the price and its a fair bet old boy that you couldnt build em fast enough for us all.
Please? The deposit would be in the post tonight if you said you would. Podie back me up here, I know'd want some of that kind of motor!

2.0-2.3 Duratec with circa 250bhp would be fantastic.Plenty of tuning options with the Duratec... almost makes me wonder if a car sans-engine would be a viable seller?
would the ST220 Duratec V6 fit in?
