A nice G15, £7.5k is advertised on classics for sale.
Tad misleading is the 'ready for showing' and beautifully and 'carefully restored', should the uninitiated be looking.
Still I suppose the words 'as original' have not be used.

I think the purists would pull a few bits to pieces. Those aftermarket rear lights. And the seats. And wheels. And no rear bumper. And why the front number plate on the air intake?

The idea of 'purists' and G15s make me snigger, they are parts bin specials after all.

Maybe, but there are the right parts and there are the wrong parts!

As Geoff said, maybe...
but you could say that for just about every specialist car of the era, including the Elan.
And plenty of marques in more recent times do it, even supercars and top designers, for example Peter Stevens. MG SV pictured below with Mr Stevens.
Those headlights... straight from the ...Fiat PUNTO!!

Purist just means sticking to the same parts bin today surely biggrin

Plus in the case of the G15 there are plenty of parts that eminate only from the Ginetta bin, where others used the parts bin.
Good example is the screens...
where did the front windscreen come from? (the story about the Toyota is dreamland - never seen the proof)
where did the rear windscreen come from?
plenty of other parts too, for example where did the front brake hoses come from? (and pleeeease don't say Triumph Herald).

Why? You get Ferrari purists and the 80's - 90's ones are full of Fiat bits, lotus use all sorts of bits from other manufacturers, and very collectible 1960's lambos use the same rear lights as alvis, Ferrari, Rover, etc

Me thinks you are being a tad picky. Many G15's have the number plate in the grill, and many G15's don't have the rear bumper fitted.
Many G15's you see at shows aren't at all standard (whatever that is!). All I see is a nice clean Gi5 with some worthwhile mods that's ready to go, at (to me) a reasonable price.

I think my G15 would have come under the 'modded' theme! I don't have objection to modded G15s. My point about the number plate in the grille is it's the air intake for the rad! As for rear bumper not fitted, that's cos you can't get 'em!! Unless you want to pay the earth for the rare Riley Elf/Wolseley Hornet bumper.

I guess there is not a great deal of difference between a purits and a traditionalist but the latter is where I sit in that the Wheels/lights/seats would have to go for more period items.

Is there a plate over the inlet or is it the old numbers that attach to the grille mesh which I quite like.

I must admit in being a no bumper fan - why add weight - especially those VW things - To that end my straight but hardly pristine rear bumper of my G15 will be offered for sale in the club soon for the purist smile

It's just numbers on the wire mesh, so I hardly think they'll affect the cooling at all.
Here's a link to the car in question...

"My point about the number plate in the grille is it's the air intake for the rad! "
I didn't realise that standard G15s had a grille, anyway the technique is to attach individual letters/nos. to a mesh so the air has an unobstructed path. Yes I know that old type letters are almost unobtainable these days, but I got some from a friend who has a no.plate business.

"As for rear bumper not fitted, that's cos you can't get 'em!! Unless you want to pay the earth for the rare Riley Elf/Wolseley Hornet bumper."

Or shorten a Lotus Elan +2 bumper - still available - also at astronomical price if standard is that important..
