Hi
New to the forum.
Can anybody tell me what the brake master cylinder on my G32 comes from. The rear brakes work ok but the front are soft. I've replaced the fluid, pads, hoses and the calipers are fine now.
would appreciate any advice.
Thanks
Mark

Hi
I think it's a girling 0.7 from a hillman imp! Thought I had a problem with mine a few years ago and contacted powertrack for a new one. Didn't need it in the end turned out to be air in the system!

Yes, original front and rear cylinders are both Girling 0.7".
They are also quite common on single seaters / race cars and available with various bore sizes at specialized shops.
I've replaced mine by 0.75"s last year, as they offer 15% higher flow (which slightly improves pedal feel).
You can also get copies from AP and other companies...

Leverage applies to hydraulics as much as it does levers - if you up the bore size on the master cylinder, you will get a harder pedal but less pressure at the caliper for the same pressure on the pedal (I think - O level physics was a long time ago...)

Pedal pressure wasn't a problem, but it feels more progressive now as pedal travel is a bit shorter.
