What sucessful engine transplants has there been in G15's ?

I know that there was a an Alfa Romeo engined one for sale at Ginetta Heritage a while ago but would have thought that there must be some others ?

I'm sure somebody would have made a motorbike engined one by now ?

Anybody know of any ?

(and before you say it, yes I know that an imp engined one can still be bloody fast as I owned a Mk8 Davrian with a screaming Bevan Imp engine in the back wink )

If you are a member of the GOC have a look at
http://www.ginetta.org/goc/index.php?option=com_ku...
if not then the current range of suggestions is
bike engine - nobody has admitted to doing it yet
Alfa - various, but old tec now
Subaru - got to be the way to go !!!!
VW type 4 - me 'cos Ginetta did it in the past and there is a lot more power available than people would believe !!! ( but still a work in progress )

Geoff Butcher did once suggest using the engine and drive train from a 4wd Fiat Panda, but it was April 1st...

I am surprised that nobody has tried fitting a bike engine yet- we have a very quick bike-powered Clan competing in Scotland.

I realise this is off topic but I've been working on a square tube G4 with a hayabusa 230hp dry sump to compliment my round tube G4 I'm using the stock 6 speed sequential and an epicyclical Quaife reverse box. the motor and box weigh 130lbs and the power to weight should be quite good. The rear end will be Lotus Elan IRS. I have my molds for making a lightweight open body. I planned to make more progess when I had finished a Mk1 Lotus Cortina I've been restoring but I recently found a S3 Elan coupe that could be a nice project so I guess the G4 Busa will have too wait.

Has to be the way to go - it would be blindingly quick.

I did see a part built one on ebay once, maybe its more tricky than first thought ?

The round tube's running really well. With the current state of the US economy I've been working most of the time and have spent all of my free time working on the Mk1 Lotus Cortina and neglected my Ginetta interests.
We shouldn't be hijacking this G15 link but hopefully the members will forgive an expat Brit, we probably should start a G4 Bike engine link?

Intersting thread on the Imp club forum regarding Talbot Samba, Citroen BX, Peugeot 104 engine - All alloy up to 1360 - can be 1440 and bolts to the Imp Transaxle ! engine leans the other way (for want of better description) so would appear to give a better engine - driver balance - refered to as the old "Douvrin" engine or something like that - working from memory.
